About a month ago, I had the privilege of photographing the engagement of my friends Alana and Alex! Consider this a more formal follow-up. Following their beautiful proposal in Melbourne, Alana and Alex invited me to capture their engagement party just a few weeks later. The celebration was a lovely extension of their engagement – and I was honoured to document this special occasion.
Family and friends of the couple gathered to celebrate their engagement on a lovely, warm afternoon. Alana and her loved ones did an amazing job with decorations, food and drink. Guests gathered around the snack table, enjoying an array of cheeses and pastries and other such treats. I especially loved the colourful bouquets of flowers around the room – I thought they were so beautiful and bright. Alana even set up a donut display that was so beautiful that we weren’t sure if it was edible. Everyone took turns having their picture taken with Alana and Alex next to their gorgeous (and delicious) engagement cake.
As a photographer, capturing the party was a delightful experience. From candid moments of guests dancing and mingling to the couple’s radiant smiles – it was a nice and fun afternoon. I loved how willing people were to have their photo taken – it made photographing the day easier and more fun. My partner and I enjoyed some snacks and a dance in between taking group photos. I would also like to say here how lovely everyone looked dressed up for the occasion. It made me want to go dress shopping. Of course, Alana looked incredibly gorgeous and I think her vibrant smile makes these photos even more cute.
It was a joy to witness and capture these moments that Alana and Alex will look back on for years to come. Reflecting on the engagement party, I am grateful to have been part of such a significant chapter in Alana and Alex’s lives. Their love and the support of their friends and family made the event so fun and special – boy do they know how to throw a party! I hope these photographs serve as a lasting reminder of the joy and love that surrounded them on this day.
