Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT ARE YOUR OFFICE HOURS?

Being a self-run business, I am able to set my own hours. My booking form allows you to book sessions between 8 am and 8 pm; any hours/days I am not available are blacked out in the booking form. However, you can send through booking forms, emails, or call whenever you please.

If you’re after an early morning or late night session, contact us, and we can try to arrange it. I try to be as attentive to my phone as I can be, but I may be in the middle of a shoot or otherwise preoccupied, so if I do not answer your call, leave your name, number, and a summary of what you’d like, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I am based in Wollongong, and the booking form includes Shellharbour and Kiama. I travel back and forth from Dubbo occasionally, so Dubbo is also an available location at those times. You can also request another location if preferred; however, it may incur a travel fee.

WILL MY PHOTOS APPEAR ON YOUR WEBSITE?

Maybe. I aim to promote my business using my best shots, so every so often, I’ll update the photos shown on the website. Details regarding what I may or may not use for the portfolio are stipulated in our agreement.

WHAT IS AN EXCLUSIVE AND NON-EXCLUSIVE LICENSE?

An exclusive licence means that you, the client, have the right to the sole use of the photos I deliver to you. Taking any details in our contract into consideration, this means the photos are yours to do as you please within the terms of the contract. I cannot sell the photos to anyone else, but I am allowed to use them for self-promotion. I still own the copyright of anything I produce, but the client is the only person other than me with the right to use the photos. An exclusive licence is applied to all photos that include identifying features, including people, locations and intellectual property.

A non-exclusive licence means the client can use the photos within the terms of the contract. However, I am allowed to sell those same photos to others, and I am still allowed to use the photos for self-promotion. Non-exclusive licences are granted to photos that are general in nature and do not include identifying features.

In any case, we aim to operate in a reputable, respectful and morally abiding way and will ask permission for personal use regardless of the rights stated in the contract.

HOW DO YOU PRICE YOUR SERVICES?

We have to consider the nature of the service (how difficult it is, how many people might be involved, how much content is expected to be delivered, etc.) when pricing services.

Clients might not realise that our session is only the beginning of the work involved in photography – it can take up to triple the amount of time to edit photos than it does to shoot them, so my prices take that work into account. Your money also goes towards the costs of running a business, such as travel, electricity, photography equipment, licencing and the website.

Include the time spent liaising between clients, organising, shooting, editing, delivering, and managing the site; the prices make more sense.

HOW ARE THE PHOTOS DELIVERED?

After edits are done, we will email you a link to a private, password-protected page where you can download the full-resolution photos. You can browse through and download your photos one by one, or, if you fancy convenience, you can download a zip file of the entire gallery via the links at the top and bottom of the gallery.

Due to space restrictions, this link is only guaranteed to be available for 2 weeks. It may stay up longer, but if we need storage space, old client pages may be removed.

If you lose your photos and the link no longer works, please reach out, and we can organise to get you a copy from our backups, pending a small fee.

WHERE CAN I VIEW YOUR PORTFOLIO?

My portfolio is available on this website via the menu above or just click here. It’s nicely organised into different albums, so feel free to browse anything that piques your interest.

DO YOU KEEP A BACKUP COPY?

Yes, I regularly run backups and keep files for up to three months, and being the data hoarder I am, I rarely delete photos. If you happen to lose your files, contact me, and I’ll be able to send you a copy, pending a retrieval fee.

DO YOU DELIVER EVERY IMAGE YOU SHOOT?

No. Following our session, I will sift through your images and remove any duplicates, out of focus or otherwise unusable. I aim to deliver the best of the bunch, to save us both time and ensure quality. I’ll always ensure that I provide the number of photos agreed to and won’t send through excessive and unnecessary photographs, but you’re highly likely to receive more than the minimum, as I deliver any other good photos from your shoot.
