Carl’s Jr. Warrawong recently awarded the Illawarra Star Strikers, a local disability bowling team, with a $2,500 grant as part of their Carl’s Community Club Cash Bonanza initiative. As a local photographer, I had the privilege of documenting a heartwarming event that showcased the power of community support and corporate social responsibility. It was a lovely afternoon, and it was great to get involved!
The Carl’s Community Club Cash Bonanza
Carl’s Jr. Australia has launched this exciting program to give back to local communities across the country. Throughout September, community groups in Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales, and Victoria could register to host events at their nearby Carl’s Jr. restaurant, with 20% of sales going directly back to the club. What makes this initiative even more impactful is that all participating clubs are entered into a draw to win one of four $2,500 grants. These grants, totaling $10,000, aim to directly support the activities of registered clubs. I’m not entirely sure about the details beyond this, but from what I know, it sounds like an incredible idea.
A Golden Afternoon with the Illawarra Star Strikers
The event I captured was a perfect example of how this program is making a difference. The Illawarra Star Strikers, a local disability bowling team, received one of these coveted $2,500 grants, which will undoubtedly help them continue their valuable work in our community. It was a pleasure to spend time with the Illawarra Star Strikers. They were incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about their sport, tournaments, and travels as a club. Their passion for bowling was evident, and it was inspiring to see how the sport has brought them together as a team.
As a photographer, I couldn’t have asked for better conditions. The beautiful afternoon golden light provided a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfectly complementing the joyous occasion. It was a quick job, taking only an hour, but the memories captured will last a lifetime. An unexpected perk of the job was scoring a free Carl’s Jr. burger. As I was heading straight to a graduation shoot afterward, it was the perfect snack for the road. It was a treat to enjoy one of Carl’s Jr.’s famous burgers known for its high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.
Growing as a Professional Photographer
This event was special for me as it marked another milestone in my journey as a professional photographer. Having recently finished university, it’s incredibly rewarding to see work coming in so soon. The shift from relying on word-of-mouth marketing to having clients contact me through my website and social media platforms is a testament to the evolving nature of the industry.I’m grateful for clients who provide clear expectations, such as the shot list and examples from past shoots of a similar nature that I received for this event. It not only helps me deliver exactly what they’re looking for, but also allows me to grow and refine my skills.
Looking Ahead
As I continue to grow my business in the coming years, I’m committed to involving community events and causes as much as possible. Events like the Carl’s Community Club Cash Bonanza not only provide great photographic opportunities but also allow me to contribute to and document the positive impact businesses can have on local communities.
Carl’s Jr.’s initiative is a shining example of how corporations can support local groups. As Sally Williams, Marketing Director APAC for Carl’s Jr., stated, “We value all the local communities we work in, and we know how much they value us.” This sentiment resonates deeply with me as a local business owner and community member.
I look forward to capturing more moments that celebrate community spirit and showcase the power of local support. Here’s to many more golden afternoons filled with joy, community, and the perfect shot!
