I didn’t just learn how to skate. I learned that and graduated with a black robe, darker bruises and one of those funny hats, (which, by the way, are called “mortarboards” because they resemble a tool used by bricklayers to hold mortar…), in case anyone was wondering.
I went ice skating twice in the Easter holidays, yeah, I went back just to practice falling down really gracefully.
See, the problem ended up being that I CAN actually skate, (despite Dad’s opinion), I just can’t stop. Actually no, I can stop. I stop, drop and
roll df outta here get back up with a positive attitude and a positively broken self-image and knee.
Fun fact – I lived in Orange for 10 years. For those of you who didn’t just grow goosebumps at the thought, Orange is a city that is notoriously cold.
Fun fact 2 – I hate being cold. And I hate snow.
Snow is not fun. Snow is not fluffy or pretty or comfortable. It is cold and wet and hard. Much like an ice skating rink. Lily and Emma decided it would be a good idea to pick up the ice out the front which had been scraped off the rink and have a snowball fight. Lily threw some at the car but didn’t dare to aim one at me and my camera.
Ice skating is supposed to be cool, and let me tell ya when you fall ass over head and every angle in between, it is. I figured out how to spin clumsily instead of falling eventually.
